Emergencies
-
What is considered an emergency?
- There are some instances where you should not delay treatment and should see a dentist as soon as possible.
These include:
- Severe uncontrolled toothache / facial pain
- Uncontrolled bleeding following extraction / oral surgery
- Swelling or abnormal lumps
- Lost fillings / crowns and fractured teeth causing pain or soft tissue damage
- Lost / fractured teeth as a result of trauma

What do I do in an emergency?
- We understand that dental emergencies do not always work to a time scale. If this is the case, reception will do their best to provide an appointment on the day you contact or book the next available appointment. During normal weekdays, we advise patients to call at 8.30am when you will be triaged by one of the reception team. In an emergency we will provide you a same day appointment with one of our dentists. Please note this may not be your usual dentist and you may need to return for a further review with your usual dentist, if further treatment is required.

What if I have an emergency and you are closed?
- If you were to experience a dental emergency over the weekend or evenings and the practice is closed, you will be required to ring 111 – NHS Direct. You will be triaged and advised of your local emergency dental service. Alternatively, if you are a Denplan / Private patient, you may also ring 07973 939 940 for advice.

Can I have an emergency appointment if I am not registered?
- Priority is always given to registered patients of the practice in emergencies. If there is availability, non-registered patients will also be offered appointments.
