Hormonal changes during pregnancy may increase the risk of gum disease. Your oral health can affect the health of the developing baby. Here are a few tips for oral health:

1)    Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss at least once a day.

2)      Eat calcium-rich foods to aid development of baby’s healthy teeth.

3)      Chew xylitol gum to reduce the incidence of tooth decay in your child by about 70 percent.

4)      If morning sickness is keeping you from brushing your teeth, change the flavor of your toothpaste to one you can tolerate.

5)      Avoid oral x-rays during pregnancy to safeguard the health of the baby.
